audition Instructions

Open to ages 8-18

List of characters

Register for the The Sound of Music Theatre Class online. You must be registered for the class in order to audition. There are no cuts- all students enrolled in the class will perform in the show!
Fill out audition form and select audition time.
Auditions in Bristol are August 13-15th at the BAM studio. Optional audition workshop August 9th 4-5pm. Click here for Bristol Audition Form.
Auditions in Marion are August 18th at the Lincoln Theatre. Optional audition workshop August 11th 5:30-6:30pm at the the Lincoln Theatre. Click here for Marion Audition Form.
Prepare and sing a song from the choices below. You are not required to memorize. You will be considered for all roles regardless of the song you sing. You must sing with the instrumental only track.
Dialogue will be given at audition.
There may be a simple, short dance/movement combination if time allows.
Callbacks- After your audition, you may be asked to prepare an additional song/monologue, or read from the script. Receiving a callback simply means we would like to see more in order to make the best decisions for casting. If you are unable to attend, we will ask you to send in a video.
Cast announced no later than August 19th in Bristol and August 24th in Marion.

Information regarding rehearsals/performances BRISTOL:

Rehearsals begin August 21st from 5:30-7:30 and continue weekly on Thursdays. Rehearsal location Virginia High Auditorium.

Mandatory dress rehearsals are November 16th-19th. Performances are November 20th at 7pm and 21st at 3pm.

Rehears begin August 25th at the Lincoln Theatre from 5:30-7:30pm and continue weekly on Tuesdays.

Mandatory dress rehearsals are December 14th-17th. Performances are December 18th at 7pm and 19th at 3pm.

Rehearsal and Performance Attendance Agreement:

If your child has more than 3 unexcused absences, we reserve the right to reassign their role if necessary. We have limited rehearsal time and it is very important they be at every rehearsal possible for their own benefit and their classmates. Please discuss with the director for special circumstances.

In addition, dress rehearsal week is MANDATORY. There are no absences permitted. Please discuss with the director for special circumstances.

You may choose any audition excerpt listed below. You will be considered for all roles regardless of which song you choose. You must sing with the instrumental version for your audition.
